Bars, Sports Bars and Microbreweries

A bar can have an impressive product programme and still be inefficient to operate, so BDS plans the range, the bar and the service together.

How BDS approaches it

Bars and breweries are complex hospitality businesses in their own right. Beyond the look of a bar are its beverage economics, guest occasion, product programme, equipment, brewing infrastructure, service workflow and technical requirements.

BDS brings specialised experience in bar concepts, cocktails and beverage programmes, sports-bar formats and microbrewery development. We can provide this expertise as part of a complete venue engagement or as a focused commission. Licensing, engineering, brewing equipment and statutory responsibilities are coordinated with the relevant specialists as required.

For a microbrewery, the product programme means the beer range, how often it rotates, how it is served and tasted, and the food that sits alongside it.

More taps are not simply more products. They can broaden flavour choice, allow rotation and experimentation, make room for tastings and flights, and give guests a clearer reason to visit again.

For a bar that is already open, the same questions apply to what it pours: what sells, how quickly it can be served and what each drink earns. That review is part of improving how an existing bar trades.

Selected work

Nuts & Brew, Guwahati, where BDS’s 2025 repositioning took the beer programme from four taps to eight; and Underdoggs, the sports bar brand Rish Saini directs.

In Delhi NCR, his Underdoggs designs at Aerocity and Cyber Hub were planned as sports bars, rooms that have to work on a full match night and on a quiet weekday alike. That experience runs through the studio’s bar consultancy in Gurgaon.

Uptown Escape was conceived as a café by day and a cocktail bar by night, so the bar had to suit the evening trade without losing the daytime café.
